Benjamin CoddingtonReach - The new rural health monitoring system

2016DesignBachelor Design (Honours)

Reach is a new rural health monitoring product to aid the current Queensland Telehealth system. The product was created from research conducted around the current state of health in these rural areas. The current system only allows for access to a medical service through travel, and any other means of collecting data in these remote communities can be expensive.

Through the latent need for better healthcare in these rural communities, the Reach system was born.

Reach is an in the home product that helps update a doctor on the medical status of a patient when there is no chance for a face to face visit. The system and product work hand in hand to help the patient receive the proper medical attention and provide decision support. While it gives the doctor more time to look after more pressing illnesses or injuries, as the product alleviates the need for regular checkups face to face.

The Design is modular, the main data collection unit can have many attachments to collect different types of data. This increases the longevity of the product by being applicable in different scenarios throughout the users life.
